What endeavor has the Lord led you to recently—to start something, renew something, or put something on pause?
This year, nine years after stepping away, I returned to the high-school science classroom for my seventh year of teaching. It was exciting and scary. I’d missed formally teaching students. Yet, I was worried it had been too long and I'd lost my skills. Though this year had ups and downs, I thought over and over again, "I love my job. Jesus thank you for bringing me here." This year the Lord returned to me a purposing that he’d asked me to shelve in order to more fully invest in my kids. I paused teaching while frustrated with God at the beginning. Yet, it was clear that the pausing on teaching was part of God's will, so I ultimately submitted. I’ve learned, through this and other experiences, God often returns what he’s asked me to give him in a manner even better than what I gave. I now teach part-time at a Christian classical school. Through my job I get to purposefully disciple my students and point them to God while teaching them intro physics and chemistry. As an unexpected gift from God, I also get to do short speeches of encouragement to our student body about scripture. Again, I love it. Someone wants me to speak about Jesus on purpose? Sign me up. I’d love to one day speak for Jesus professionally. However, right now God's giving me a training ground in which to be useful now and prepare for tomorrow. I spoke five times this year. Two talks were good. Three were mediocre. Each time I learned about God's word and how to share it. Next year I will speak even better for him and to his glory. Be Blessed Prayer restarts some good endeavors this year, too. I updated the website, started selling meditative scripture coloring pages (with written meditations coming soon), and am growing the business by intentional emails and social media. Whenever we’re starting, restarting, or pausing an endeavor there will undoubtedly be challenges, so we need to be ready to walk with the Lord through it. We can go where the Lord leads us, but we shouldn't go anywhere without his lead. And if he isn't leading? We can stay where we are and do the work he's assigned to us for today. I don’t know in what area of your life the Lord is working in you. God may be leading you to do something new. He may be restarting an old skill. He may be asking you to trust him to put something on pause for your best and the glory of his name. Yet, if he leads us to it, he will lead us through it for our good and his glory. Keep going in the Lord Jesus Christ. His is a good way! To God be the glory, Sarah
